Origins of the Candle
The first candles made by humans date back to the Roman era. They consisted of a wick wrapped around a stick that was coated with tallow, beeswax, animal fat, or vegetable fat. These candles were mainly used for lighting and finding one's way in the dark. The Romans learned to make scented candles for special occasions. In the Middle Ages, candles were mainly found in churches and the homes of the wealthy. They were made from oil and had a long lifespan. It was the monks who created the first candle molds to produce them more easily. The size of the candles varied according to social structure and the importance of the ritual for which they were intended.

The Advent of Modern Candles
The modern candle appeared at the end of the 18th century when scientists invented the first adjustable wick candlestick, which allowed the flame height to be adjusted according to needs. This invention enabled people to control the amount of light and thus extend the life of candles. Technological advances encouraged the creation of new manufacturing methods, such as the pressure mold that produces more uniform and easily recyclable candles. Later, injection molds were invented, which are still used today for producing scented candles.
- In 1834, William Procter and James Gamble launched the "P&G" brand and produced wax candles.
- In 1890, electric candles made their appearance.
- In 1925, tealight candles began to be marketed.
- In 1945, scented candles were introduced to the market.
