Today, more and more candles are made from plant-based wax: rapeseed, soy, coconut... They can be used pure or combined, like soy/coconut wax, for example. The latter is an ideal alternative to mineral wax or "paraffin." Environmentally friendly, it also offers many advantages in terms of use. Today, we tell you everything about soy/coconut wax!

    What is soy/coconut wax?

In the world of natural candles, different plant-based waxes are distinguished. They can come from rapeseed, sunflower, soy, or coconut. Soy/coconut wax is one of the most interesting. Indeed, it is easy to work with, offers a long burn time, and a very aesthetic. But where exactly does it come from?

As its name suggests, it is a blend of soy wax, made from soybean oil, and coconut wax, derived from coconut pulp. Together, they form a 100% plant-based wax, with a neutral scent, a solid waxy texture, and white color.

What are the benefits of soy/coconut wax?

This natural wax has many advantages, both for the manufacturer and the user.

On one hand, it is easy to work with, handle, and pour. It is highly appreciated for making scented candles poured into a container. Indeed, it guarantees excellent adhesion to glass and allows filling in a single pour.

On the other hand, it is 100% plant-based, biodegradable, and not tested on animals. When burning, it does not release toxic substances.

Finally, the soy/coconut wax poshas a low melting point (50°C) which ensures slow burning and lasts for several hours. This also prevents the fragrances from being altered by too high a temperature, thus preserving all the scents.

The aesthetic result is optimal with a bright flame and a smooth, shiny candle. The wax melts completely, leaving no residue on the container.

Soy/coconut wax VS paraffin: what’s the difference?

Paraffin is a mineral wax of petroleum origin, obtained after refining crude oil. Unlike soy/coconut wax, it is therefore not at all vegetable or natural! It is criticized for its toxic emissions (black smoke) and the soot it leaves after burning. Inexpensive, it is often used to make low-quality candles.

Soy/coconut wax, for its part, is eco-friendly and vegan. It does not emit black smoke, respects both the environment, your health, and the interior of the home. We therefore recommend choosing a soy/coconut wax candle, a mark of quality.
